A brown cheese from India… that’s among the world’s best.
Brunost isn’t your typical cheese. It’s made by caramelising whey till it turns golden brown—giving it the flavour of salted milk fudge, and a texture that’ll remind you of peda. This one’s made by Eleftheria in India, and has actually beaten some of the world’s best cheeses at the World Cheese Awards (Super Gold in 2023, Silver in 2021). Look closely and you’ll spot ‘एल एफ’—a nod to the peda tradition, embossed in Devanagari script. Slice it thin, pair it with a fruity red or medium-bodied white, and serve it like dessert. It’s a great conversation-starter—especially when you reveal it’s Indian.
Try it when:
You want to bring out something no one’s expecting—especially if they think they’ve seen every cheese there is.
We are driven by curiosity, and a deep love for product, and are committed to transparency. We scour the internet to find products we love—from brands we trust.
