A hand-painted papier-mache trinket box that is both charming and useful.
We picked this little tortoise because it instantly made us smile, and the closer you look, the sweeter it gets. It’s made using Kashmir’s traditional papier-mâché craft, a technique that originated in Persia in the 15th century and has been passed down through generations of artists. Every bit of it, the shaping, the painting, the soft lacquered shine, is done by hand, using the floral motifs that Kashmiri artisans are known for.
It has that festive, old-world glow that sits beautifully on a desk or shelf, and if you tuck in a couple of chocolates or a handwritten note, it turns into a small but genuinely thoughtful gift. Grown-up, charming, and perfect for anyone who appreciates well-made craft pieces.
We are driven by curiosity, and a deep love for product, and are committed to transparency. We scour the internet to find products we love—from brands we trust. We look for things that stand out for their distinctive design, quality and mindfulness. We recommend these finds on the Souk website and in our newsletters—and tell you exactly why we like them. Like any friend would do.
If you're new to this, here's the deal — when you buy something through a link on Souk, we may earn a percentage of the sale, but it is at no extra cost to you. This allows us to remain independent and focused on curating only what we genuinely love. Any ad or sponsored post will be clearly labelled as such — there are no secret product placements on Souk! Each time you use our links to buy something, it supports our team's hard work as your trusted shopping buddy.
